Non-oil industry increases by 7.3 percent in Azerbaijan

Industrial production output [produced goods and rendered services of industrial character] in Azerbaijan amounted to 20.3 billion manat in January - July 2012, which is 2.8 percent less than in 2011, the State Committee on Statistics said.

The share of private sector accounted for 81.9 percent of total industrial production. At the same time 92.5 percent accounts for the production of industrial goods, 7.5 percent - industrial services. Production in non-oil industrial sector increased by 7.3 percent and in oil sector decreased by 4.7 percent.

The volume of production in the mining industry decreased by 4.8 percent, amounting to 15.59 billion manat with weight of 76.87 percent of all industrial production during the reporting period. Oil production for the period amounted to 25.8 million tones, natural gas - 7.7 billion cubic meters (by 8.2 percent), gold - 816.6 kilograms, silver - 412.5 kilograms.

Production volume in processing industry amounted to 3.6 billion manat in January-July, increasing by 10.3 percent compared to the same period in 2011. During the reporting period there was a decline in the production of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (decrease by 78 percent) and in the chemical industry (15.9 percent).

The manufacture of electrical equipment increased by 2.5 times, the steel industry increased by 12.4 percent, manufacture of computer and other electronic equipment increased by 10.6 times.

The manufacture of food products increased by 4.1 percent Sausage production increased by 1.1 percent, amounting to 1.1 thousand tons, vegetable oil - by 63.1 percent (43,000 tons), butter - by 1.4 percent (12.7 thousand tons), margarine - by 32.5 percent (14,800 tons)
