Azerbaijani companies can participate in the creation of a logistics center in western Kazakhstan to help provide regional food security, Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev said during a meeting with Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Krymbek Kusherbaev in Baku, the ministry reported on Thursday.

Azerbaijani companies can participate in the creation of a logistics center in western Kazakhstan to help provide regional food security, Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister Shahin Mustafayev said during a meeting with Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Krymbek Kusherbaev in Baku, the ministry reported on Thursday.

"A visit from the Azerbaijani delegation to Aktau to explore cooperation possibilities in Western Kazakhstan and the organization of the joint business forum is expected ", Mustafayev said.

He said cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan is based on principles of mutual respect and mutually beneficial cooperation. Today, a solid legal basis consisting of more than 20 signed documents has been created between the countries.

Kusherbaev said expanding cooperation with dynamically developing Azerbaijan, advanced technologies and methods used in the various fields of Azerbaijan's economy, especially in agriculture are of great interest to his country. He said Kazakhstan will make use of Azerbaijan's experience in agriculture.

During the meeting, the prospects of expanding cooperation and the development of relations in various fields of the economy including industry, agriculture, logistics, and tourism amongst other things were discussed.

On the first day of the visit, the Kazakh delegation visited the agricultural product processing enterprise Zehmet-Ruzi in Khirdalan and the Sumgayit industrial park. Visits to see the work of enterprises operating in Gabala were made during the second day.

According to Azerbaijani State Customs Committee, between January and September last year, trade turnover between the two countries exceeded $260 million compared $179 million during the same period of the previous year and $275 million in 2011 as a whole.
