Azerbaijan is among the top five countries in terms of foreign direct investment in Georgia's economy in the first half of 2013, the Georgian Statistics Agency's preliminary report said today.
According to the report, the amount of direct investments from Azerbaijan to Georgia totaled $60.5 million in January-June 2013 or 13.19 percent of the total amount of direct investments in the country in the first half of the year. Around $38.4 million were invested in Georgia in the first quarter, while $22.1 million of direct investments in the second quarter.
Around $458.6 million of direct investments were made in Georgia in January-June. Luxembourg ranks first on this index. It invested $122.5 million (26.71 percent of the total amount of direct investments) in the Georgian economy. The Netherlands rank second ($99.9 million or 21.78 percent of the total investment amount). China and Turkey with $91.9 million (20.04 percent) and $36.9 million (8.05 percent) of investments rank third and fifth.
