Iran exported 6,513 sedans during the first eleven months of the current solar year (started on March 21, 2013) which indicates an 86.88 percent decrease compared to the same period of last year.
The value of the exported cars was around $43 million which is 85.22 percent less than in the same period of last year, according to the Iranian Custom Administration's latest report released on March 1. The average price of exported car was $6,647 during the period, which indicates a 12.68 percent increase this year.
Iran has exported 3047, 1861 and 1005 sedan cars to Iraq, Azerbaijan and Egypt respectively during the first eleven months of the current solar year.
The country has imported 61,070 sedan cars, worth $ 1.273 billion during eleven months, which indicates an increase of 59.54 and 37.03 percent respectively in terms of volume and value compared to the first eleven months of preceding year.
The average price of imported cars was $20,844 which indicates a 14.11 percent decrease in price compared to the last year. Iran has imported 47,253 cars from the UAE, 9,105 cars from China and 2,092 cars from Kuwait during the period.
Iran produced 655,551cars in first eleven months of the current Iranian calendar year.
Some 68,107 sedan cars, 10,274 pickup trucks, 38 buses, and 11 minibuses were produced in the eleventh month (January 21-February 19).
The country produced 74,211 cars in the tenth calendar month of the current Iranian calendar year (December 23, 2013 - January 21, 2014).
Iran produced 989,110 cars in 2012, which made it Asia's eighth largest car manufacturer. Iran's automobile output faced a 40 percent decrease in 2012. The country was Asia's 5th largest car manufacturer in 2011, with a total output of 1,648,505.
Increasing prices on raw materials and foreign currencies are car manufacturers' main problems in Iran.
