Georgia imported goods worth $259.17 million from Azerbaijan in January-July 2016, that is, 17.74 percent less than in the same period of 2015, said Georgia’s National Statistics Office (Geostat) in a report.
According to the report, Azerbaijan ranks sixth, with a specific weight of 4.8 percent in terms of volume of supplied products to Georgia.
Georgia imported the biggest part of the goods from Canada ($1.26 billion – 23.3 percent) in January-July 2016, the report said.
Turkey ranks second with $767.3 million (14.1 percent), followed by Russia - $358 million (6.6 percent), the report said.
Medicines worth $1.7 billion, oil and oil products worth $306.5 million, as well as cars worth $257.5 million were mainly imported by Georgia in January-July 2016, the report said.
According to the report, Azerbaijan exports gas, oil products, construction materials and other commodities to Georgia.
Georgia imported goods worth $5.4 billion in January-July 2016 versus $4.3 billion in the same period of 2015, the report said.
Around 26.2 percent of products imported by Georgia account for EU countries, 19 percent - the CIS countries, while 54.8 percent of Georgian import accounts for other countries, the report said.
