Turkish ministry discloses details of high-speed railway construction

In total, 856.324 million liras will be allocated for the construction of a high-speed railway to run through Turkey’s Konya, Aksaray and Nigde provinces, the country’s Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications told Trend.

The total length of the railway will be 86 kilometers, according to the ministry.

“Seven bridges and 55 pedestrian underpasses will be built as part of the railway construction.”

Currently, the length of high-speed railway lines in Turkey is 1,213 kilometers and construction of another 4,000 kilometers of railway lines continues.

Also, research is being conducted for the construction of additional 5,000 kilometers of railway lines.

The length of high-speed railway lines will be brought up to 10,000 kilometers in the country until 2023.

Turkey’s first railway was built in Izmir Province in 1860. Its length was 357 kilometers.
