Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, March 7
By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:
This year, the area of rice plantation in the Dashoguz region of Turkmenistan will amount to 8,100 hectares, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported on March 7.
The main rice producers are specialized farms of the Turkmenbashi district, where high-yielding and disease-resistant varieties of rice adapted to local soil and climatic conditions are cultivated.
"The system of comprehensive state support for agricultural producers and a fleet of modern equipment allows farmers of the northern region to achieve high results in the production of valuable food crops every year," the newspaper reported.
High-quality varieties of rice such as "Nukus-2", "Munbashi" and "Alenga" are cultivated here.
In November 2017, it was reported that about 39,000 tons of rice were harvested in Turkmenistan.
