The Ministry of Transport and Roads of Russia’s Dagestan Republic hosted a meeting where issues of restoring ferry service between the ports of Makhachkala (Dagestan, Russia) and Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan) were considered, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan said in a message.
The meeting participants discussed possibilities of developing mutually beneficial cooperation among transport and logistics companies of the two countries in the Caspian Sea region.
First Deputy Prime Minister of Dagestan Ramazan Aliyev also received a group of Turkmen businessmen, according to the message.
The Turkmen delegation included representatives of some local companies.
“The meeting participants were unanimous in their opinion that the creation of the Turkmenbashi-Makhachkala transport hub will give an impetus to the development of the economy of the regions of the two countries, tourism and transport services infrastructure,” the message said.
The Turkmen delegation visited Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port JSC, where it got acquainted with its possibilities for transshipment of various types of cargo and the organization of ferry service with the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, as well as the fish terminal of the Caspian port.
