New greenhouses built in Iran’s Dashti county

New greenhouses covering an area of 10 hectares have been built in Dashti county of Iran’s Bushehr province since the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year, which started March 21, 2018, said director of agriculture department of Dashti county Sherali Bahadori.

He pointed out that Dashti county ranks first in Bushehr province with greenhouses covering a total area of 60 hectares, IRNA reported.

Bahadori went on to add that 1,000 hectares of lands in Dashti county were provided with new irrigation systems last year.

Moreover, 100 billion rials (more than $2.6 million) loans with low interest rates were allocated for improving the economy of rural areas since the beginning of the year, he said.

Dashti county with 86,000 population, is one of the nine counties (shahrestans) in Bushehr province, Iran. Dashti county has a 25 km coastline along the Persian Gulf, with a climate that is mostly arid or semiarid. The highest point in the county is Mount Beyrami at 1,950 m. Petroleum, natural gas, lime, and stone from quarries are extracted in the county. Wheat, tomatoes, corn, and other grains are grown. There is a local honey industry.
