Forecast: Iran eyes to earn $1M from fish exports

Iran is exporting fish to neighboring countries, including Turkey, Iraq and Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and this Iranian year (started March 21, 2018) fish exports are projected at $1 million, said Mohammad Moghadam, head of Shahid Kazemi Biological Resource Center in Poldasht city of Iran’s East Azarbaijan Province, ISNA reported.

He said that 6 million fish are grown in this center.

He added that the West Azarbaijan Province holds the first place in Iran for fish breeding.

Shahid Kazemi Biological Resource Center is the biggest fishery center in the Iranian province, he said, adding that the fish are grown on 221 facilities, he said.

More than 6,200 tons of fish are caught in this center and sold in the Iranian market, he noted.
