Consumer prices in Uzbekistan up by over 5% in 3 months

Prices for consumer goods and services in Uzbekistan rose by an average of 2.3 percent in November 2018, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said in a report.

In general, inflation in the consumer sector for 11 months reached 12 percent.

In November, food products increased in price by 2.7 percent , non-food products – by 1.2 percent, services –by 3.3 percent.

Since September 2018, the inflationary pressure on the economy has increased. In September, the average consumer price level for the month increased by 1.8 percent, in October – by 1.3 percent and in November – by 2.3 percent. In general, only in the last three months, prices rose by 5.4 percent.

According to IMF forecasts, inflation in Uzbekistan will be 19.2 percent in 2018 and 14.9 percent in 2019 against 12.5 percent in 2017.
