Azerbaijan is among top three major trading partners of Georgia

In January-April 2019, Azerbaijan increased imports of goods from Georgia by five percent compared to the same period last year, from $ 120,36 million to over $ 126,33 million, Trend reports with reference to the report of the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

The share of Azerbaijan in Georgian exports has reached 13,1 percent. Thus, in the first four months of 2019, Azerbaijan ranked second among the countries importing Georgian products.

The major share of Georgian exports to Azerbaijan includes automobiles, tobacco products, medicines and nitrogen fertilizers.

Georgia exports most of all goods to Russia; in January-April this figure was $177,50 million with a share of 18,5 percent. Turkey as a third major trading partner of Georgia was replaced by Bulgaria. It imported goods worth 108,95 million dollars amounting to 11,3 percent.

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan exported products worth $235,80 million to Georgia, which is 2,6 percent more than in January-April 2019.

The majority of Georgian imports from Azerbaijan are gas, electricity, oil, cement and other products.

The leader in exports to Georgia is Turkey - $446,96 million (15,9 percent). China ranked second - $273,48 million (9,7 percent). The third place is occupied by Russia - $269,08 million (9,6 percent).

According to the report, Georgia’s trade with Azerbaijan in the first four months of 2019 amounted to $362,14 million, while in the same period last year it was $363,3 million.

The share of commodity turnover between Azerbaijan and Georgia has reached 9,4 percent in the total volume of foreign trade operations of Georgia. Thus, Azerbaijan ranked third in the list of Georgia’s main trading partners.
