How many pedestrian crossings are built in Baku?

Seven ground and underground pedestrian crossings are under construction In Baku this year, Anar Najafli, spokesman for the Azerbaijani State Agency of Automobile Roads, told Trend on Nov. 19.

Najafli said that one pedestrian crossing has been constructed on the thirteenth kilometer of the Baku-Shamakha-Yevlakh highway near the Khokmali circle.

"Presently, the underground crossing is also being built at the intersection of Heydar Aliyev Avenue and Zaki Mammadov Street as well as ground crossings at the intersection of Moscow Avenue with January 20 Street, on the Gala-Pirallahi and Mardakan-Zagulba motorways, and in the Khatai district on Neapol Street," the spokesman said.

Najafli stressed that the construction of two pedestrian crossings has been recently launched on the Baku-Alat-Gazakh highway at the 39th kilometer in the Umid settlement and at the 49th kilometer in the Yol Evi residential area.

“Nineteen ground pedestrian crossings and three underground pedestrian crossings were built within three years from 2016 to 2018,” Najafli added.

A four-way pedestrian crossing has been recently created at the intersection of Tabriz Street and Hasanoglu Street for the first time in Baku as part of the work to improve road safety.
