Trend:
Iran is launching drone system to monitor the country's water and power network, said managing director of the Iranian Electrical Power Equipment Manufacturing and Provision Company (SATKAB).
"Monitoring drones with horizontal and vertical flying capacity have been designed and produced in cooperation with a knowledge based company," said Mohammadvali Alaedini, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
"The drones will be used to observe power transmission lines, rivers, dams and soil drifting areas. Previously, Iran used to monitor power transmission lines by helicopter, but the drones will considerable save the costs," the managing director added.
"SAKTAB company has announced the guaranteed purchase of knowledge based products in water and power supply sectors to support domestic producers and create market for the products," Alaedini said.
"More than 150 knowledge based companies in water and power industry are working with SATKAB, and there is a need for localizing the water and power supply," the official said adding that about 95 percent of country's needs in water and power are met by local producers.
