New drilling rig commissioned in Iran

"Fath 72", Iran’s new drilling rig, has been commissioned in the country’s Khuzestan province, Trend reports via the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA).

Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh and other officials attended the commissioning ceremony of the drilling rig.

Drilling to the depth of 20,000 feet is possible with this rig. The height of the rig is about 150 feet.

The "Fath 72" drilling rig is equipped with a 500 ton driver, 137.5 inch circular platform and three pumps each with capacity of 1,600 horsepower.

The "Fath 72" drilling rig was manufactured by Iran’s Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR).

The "Fath 71" drilling rig was commissioned in 2018, and the "Fath 73" drilling rig will be commissioned in the second half of next Iranian year (beginning Sept. 22, 2020).

A contract for a total of 33 million euros was signed for the production of the three drilling rigs.
