Production of industrial products increases in Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17

The production volume of industrial goods in Azerbaijan amounted to 7.7 billion manat ($4.5 billion) from January through February 2020, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistical Committee.

According to the committee, the production volume of industrial products increased by 0.9 percent during the reporting period compared to the same period of 2019.

The production volume of non-oil sector increased by 21.7 percent.

The production of industrial products in the mining sector amounted to 68.4 percent, the processing sector - 26 percent, the production sector, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam amounted to 5 percent, and 0.6 percent in the water supply, waste treatment and recycling sector.

In the sector of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, production volume increased by 6.4 percent, in the sector of water supply, waste treatment and recycling - by 1.0 percent.

The share of oil in the mining sector dropped by 3.7 percent, while the share of commercial gas increased by 19.1 percent.

In the field of production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, production increased by 18.6 percent, water supply, waste treatment and recycling - by 4.3 percent.

In the processing sector, the production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers increased 7 times, other vehicles - 2.5 times, computer, electronic and optical products - 5.7 times, drinks - 2.1 times, woodworking and wood products - by 89.8 percent, clothing – by 79.6 percent, finished metal products – by 56.5 percent, furniture – by 47.3 percent, printing products – by 40.7 percent, metallurgy – by 39.6 percent, production paper and cardboard - by 27.5 percent, production of electrical equipment - by 27.1 percent, textile industry - 25 percent, chemical products - 19.5 percent, tobacco products - 16.3 percent, petroleum products - 11.3 percent, pharmaceutical products - 4.2 percent, rubber and plastic products - by 3.6 percent, food products - by 1.2 percent.

Work on installation and repair of machinery and equipment dropped by 7.7 percent, production of machinery and equipment - by 19.1 percent, construction materials - by 21.9 percent, production of leather and leather products, shoes - by 40.3 percent.
