TEHRAN, Iran, May 9
Trend:
Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade will fix the auto price hikes in Iranian market, and people will no longer face high prices, said Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Amir Jafarpour, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"The market regulation headquarters is finalizing the proper auto prices according to emission and safety standards," said Jafarpour.
"Iran's automakers will review the prices soon, and they won't differ much from the market prices, so it would eliminate the intermediary dealers and price hikes," he added.
"We advise people to avoid purchasing vehicles until the price is fixed. The prices will be balanced and we will witness coordination between supply and demand," Jafarpour said.
"Consumers will face losses if they purchase any cars now. The price gap right now is very significant, and isn't acceptable," he said.
He added that the dealers have disrupted the natural balance of prices, so the new policies will fix the problem soon.
"The price of SAIPA's Pride was raised by the dealers to more than 800 million rial (about$19,000) recently. So people should wait for the new prices," he said.
The auto prices in Iran have started to increase since the re-impose of the US sanctions, that led to devaluation of national currency. People invested in vehicles to preserve their capital meanwhile the price of inexpensive domestically produced models including Pride soared.
