Uzbekistan continues to boost bilateral trade turnover with Belarus

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 21

Trade turnover between Belarus and Uzbekistan increased 1.5 times in the first quarter of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA).

In the first three months of 2020, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Belarus made up $53.8 million.

“Active political dialogue, established in recent years at the level of the presidents of Belarus and Uzbekistan, has allowed bringing the Belarusian-Uzbek relations to a qualitatively new level,” the message said.

Following the results of 2019, the volume of trade turnover between the countries reached $239 million and increased 1.5 times by 2018.

The positive trend has been preserved in the period from January through March 2020: bilateral trade turnover made up $53.8 million - 54.1 percent against numbers of the corresponding period in 2019.

"The basic document of trade and economic interaction is the road map on development of cooperation between Belarus and Uzbekistan, approved by the premiers of the two countries on November 2, 2018. It includes 158 measures, of which more than 30 percent have already been implemented," the report says.
