Georgia's Butrana company will begin harvesting table grapes in its vineyard in early August, with Summer Royal and Marquis seedless, Trend reports referring to EastFruit portal.

In total, the company plans to harvest about 20 tons of table grapes. Butrana intends to sell the entire volume of grapes in Georgia through supermarket chains.

Vineyard of Butrana with an area of six hectares is located near Signagi town of Kakheti region in Eastern Georgia, the main part of which is reserved for table grapes.

In 2019, with the state support, as part of the Young Entrepreneur project, Butrana equipped a refrigeration facility for storing table grapes. The total capacity of the refrigeration chambers is 20 tons.

The company also produces wine and cheese and owns a wine cellar, a dairy farm and a dairy business.

“Now we grow about 50 early and late grape varieties, including Cardinal, Victoria, Autumn Royal, and others. Most of the seedlings were imported from Europe and the USA. The harvest of table grapes continues from the beginning of August to the end of September. In recent years, good demand has been observed in table grapes in Georgia; meanwhile, a significant part of the product is imported to the domestic market,” said founder of Butrana Jamal Khatiashvili.

According to Khatiashvili, the company is currently negotiating with several supermarket chains for the grape sales in retail packages, under its own brand.
