BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 1

By Fidan Babayeva - Trend:

The production of 26,000 tons of cotton is expected in Azerbaijan’s Beylagan district in 2020, Trend, reports citing the Azerbaijan Industrial Corporation.

This year, cotton was sown on an area of 3,200 hectares based on agreement with Azerpambiq ASK LLC, 3.88 hectares with MKT Istehsalat Kommersiya LLC, and 820 hectares with P-Agro LLC, said the report.

“To obtain high yields on the sown plots, the rules of agrotechnical cultivation have been consistently followed, and measures have been taken promptly to combat weeds and pests. These measures should in effect increase the cotton production,” the report said.

“Some 45 cotton harvesters will be used for cotton processing in Beylagan district. All equipment, including tractors and trailers, will be ready for harvest,” the corporation noted.

In 2019, the cotton yield was envisaged at the level of 28 centners per hectare, and this year the yield is predicted to be 30 centners per hectare.

This year, during the sowing period, Azerpambiq ASK LLC applied several new technologies. An example is the paired row sowing method. As a result of this method, more seeds can be sown, which leads to higher yields.
