Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan discuss issues of co-op in framework of bilateral, regional relations

Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan have exchanged views on topical issues of partnership within the framework of bilateral and regional relations, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

This was stated during the meeting of Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

Also, the sides emphasized their commitment to the full strengthening of relations, as well as cooperation in the format of authoritative international organizations and structures.

During the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual desire to further develop contacts in areas of mutual interest.

The participants noted the importance of expanding multifaceted cooperation in the political and cultural fields, as well as the exchange of accumulated experience, theoretical knowledge and practice of their application in order to strengthen the inter-parliamentary dialogue.

As it was reported earlier, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan intend to improve import and export procedures.

The trade turnover between the countries is increasing. Earlier, representatives of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan agreed to hold a regular meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation in the fall of this year, in order to further expand trade and economic ties and resolve a number of issues.

As earlier the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan told Trend, several events and projects are planned for the next few years in the field of rail and road cargo transportation between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The new projects will serve to further enhance bilateral cooperation, added earlier the Uzbek MFA.

"It is planned to expand cooperation by using the ports of the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea to access European and Middle Eastern markets, the Black and Mediterranean Seas, including within the framework of the promising Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-the Caspian Sea-the South Caucasus transport corridor," added the MFA.
