Georgia sees decrease in car re-exports

Georgia's re-exports of cars amounted to $404.1 million in 2020 that is 44.8 percent less than in 2019 ($732.8 million), Trend reports via the National Statistical Office (Geostat).

According to the Geostat, Georgia exported 40,712 cars in 2020, 107,268 in 2019. Last year, re-exports were carried out to 59 countries, including Cyprus, China, Switzerland, Jordan, El Salvador, etc.

Top-10 countries in terms of the value of re-exports:

Azerbaijan - $226.38 million (23,348 cars)

Ukraine - $81.09 million (10,336 units)

United Arab Emirates - $23.94 million (401 units)

Belgium - $14.2 million (299 units)

Russia - $10.64 million (1,906 cars)

Kyrgyzstan - $8.20 million (931 cars)

Tajikistan - $6.15 million (868 cars)

Turkey - $5.42 million (146 cars)

Armenia - $4.88 million (850 cars)

Kazakhstan - $3.96 million (317 cars).

The external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $11.34 billion in 2020, 14.8 percent lower year-on-year.

The exports equaled $3.34 billion (12 percent lower), while the imports stood at $8 billion (15.9 percent lower). The negative trade balance was $4.66 billion in 2020 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 41.1 percent.
