Georgia records increase in wine exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 8

Georgia exported 65 million bottles of wine to 59 countries from January through August 2021, Trend reports via the Georgian National Wine Agency.

As reported, this is an increase of 19 percent compared to the same period of 2020, says the Georgian National Wine Agency.

Georgia generated $145 million from wine export. Revenues increased by 13 percent year on year.

In total 368 companies exported wine abroad in the reporting period.

Meanwhile, Georgia exported 22 million bottles of Georgian brandy (+21 percent) and 570,000 bottles of chacha (+115 percent) abroad in the first eight months of 2021.

In total, Georgia has sold $234 million worth of alcoholic beverages in the reporting period, including wine, brandy, chacha, and others.

Exports of Georgian wine increased to the following countries:

Czech Republic - 646 percent increase (112,236 bottles)
Mongolia – 316 percent increase (306,690 bottles)
Canada – 132 percent increase (235,888 bottles)
Turkey – 156 percent increase (77,226 bottles)
UK – 73 percent increase (435,264 bottles)
Sweden – 65 percent increase (69,280 bottles)
Lithuania - 56 percent increase (675,510 bottles)
Israel – 52 percent increase (304,827 bottles)
Kazakhstan – 37 percent increase (2,552,200 bottles)
France – 31 percent increase (50,416 bottles).
