Turkish company "Yildirim Group" will begin the construction of a soda ash production plant in the Zhambyl region, Kazakhstan, Trend reports via Kazinform.
This is the first soda ash production plant in Kazakhstan, the press service of the Head of Zhambyl region reports.
The solemn ceremony of laying the capsule in the foundation of the new enterprise was attended by the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov, Head of Zhambyl region Berdibek Saparbayev, and President of the "Yildirim Group" Yuksel Yildirim.
The design capacity of the new "Qazaq Soda" LLP plant will be 500,000 tons per year. In the future, this figure will increase to 1.2 million tons per year. The total amount of the project is $400 million.
The facility will be commissioned in 2024, Yuksel Yildirim noted.
Currently, construction and installation work has already begun. During the construction, 1,000 people will be employed, and 1,300 people - after the plant is commissioned. The modern plant will supply soda ash not only to Kazakhstan, but also to a number of neighboring countries.
Investors intend to use new technologies for the production of soda ash. Waste-free production will be established as well.
Within the framework of the "Business Roadmap" program, 479.2 million tenge ($281.8 million) was allocated, and work on electricity supply began. Documents are being prepared for the water supply and railway infrastructure. It is planned to increase the design capacity of the plant to 1.2 million tons of soda ahs per year. The company intends to produce 11 more different products and export products abroad.
The soda ash plant will be built in the village of Togyzkent, Sarysu district, 65 km from the city of Zhanatas, the administrative center of Sarysu district. At the initial stage, the enterprise capacity will be about 400,000 tons of soda ash per year.
