BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. The amount of money to be allocated for the purchase of agricultural machinery in Iran is expected to be increased by 25 percent in the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), compared to the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Director of the Iranian Agricultural Equipment Development Center Kambiz Abbasi said, Trend reports citing Iranian Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.

Abbasi noted that a total of 50 trillion rials (about $1.2 billion) is expected to be allocated for the purchase of agricultural machinery in Iran this year.

“Meanwhile, in the last Iranian year, 40 trillion rials (about $952 million) had been allocated in this regard,” he added.

The director general also stressed that the funds allocated by the government are given to companies and farmers as loans.

According to Abbasi, more than 50,000 tractors will be needed in the country this year. According to research, 35,000 people are currently waiting for tractors.

“On average, the country needs 21,000-22,000 new tractors a year. Due to the fact that in some years Iran has produced 10,000-12,000 tractors a year, there is a need for the mentioned number of tractors in the country,” he said.
