BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 25. Iran’s non-oil exports through the customs of Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 3 percent in value and 5 percent in volume, during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through January 20, 2023), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Customs Inspector of Khuzestan Province Behrouz Gharabeigi told reporters, Trend reports citing IRNA.

The official noted that a total of 13.8 million tons of non-oil products worth approximately $5.49 billion were exported through the province's customs in 10 months.

“The main exported goods through the customs of the province for the reporting period were petrochemical products, agricultural products, construction materials, steel and so on, and these goods were mainly exported to the UAE, Iraq, China, Türkiye, Russia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other countries,” he added.

Gharabeigi also pointed out that about 15.6 million tons of goods worth $9.23 billion were imported through the province’s customs within 10 months.

“In total, the income of the province’s customs for 10 months amounted to 105 trillion rials (about $2.5 billion), which is an increase of 153 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” the official said.

According to him, the export of non-oil products to Iraq through the customs of Khuzestan Province is the focus of Iran. So, 4.09 million tons of non-oil products worth about $670 million were exported to Iraq via the province's customs in 10 months.

As reported, Iran's Khuzestan Province has 7 ports of strategic importance from an economic point of view. The mentioned ports play key role in export, import and transit of the country.
