BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 27. The point-to-point inflation rate in Iran grew by 39.2 percent in the 8th month of the current Iranian year (October 23 through November 21, 2023), compared with the same month last year, Trend reports.
Data from Iran’s Statistical Center shows that families in Iran spent an average of 39.2 percent more on a number of products and services in the 8th month of the current Iranian year.
Point-to-point inflation is the percentage change in the number in the price index compared to the same period last year.
In the 8th month, the price index was 210.9 in Iran.
Point-to-point inflation in the 8th month was 36.4 percent in prices of food, soft drinks, and tobacco products in Iran, while in the non-food and services sector it was 40.7 percent.
Point-to-point inflation in the 8th month was 39.3 percent in Iran’s cities and 38.5 percent in villages.
According to the report, the monthly inflation in the country for the 8th month fell by 0.1 percent compared to the 7th month (September 23 through October 22, 2023) and reached 2.2 percent.
The monthly inflation rate refers to the percentage change in the price index number compared to the previous month.
In the 8th month, monthly inflation was 2.2 percent in cities and 1.9 percent in villages.
At the end of the 8th month, the annual inflation rate in the country (November 22, 2022 through November 21, 2023) decreased by 0.6 percent compared to the previous period (November 22, 2021 through November 21, 2022) and amounted to 44.9 percent.
The annual inflation rate is the average percentage change in price index numbers over the past year. At the end of the 8th month, annual inflation was 44.6 percent in Iranian cities and 46.8 percent in villages.
