International Experts to Improve Azerbaijan’s Legislation for Joining WTO

Azerbaijan, Baku Trend corr U. Ismayilova / The State Commission on Negotiations of Azerbaijan's Joining the World Trade Organization (WTO) has suggested that international experts improve 20 juridical documents in order to get them closer to WTO principles, the head of the WTO Issues Section at the Azerbaijani Economic Development Ministry, Adalat Muradov, said on 28 June during the first Azerbaijani-Russian trade-economic international conference.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani Economic Development Minister, Heydar Babayev, stated at the 8th meeting of the State Commission that Azerbaijan's joining the WTO required the assistance of foreign experts.

According to Muradov, the State Commission was dealing with the translation of all existing legislative documents of Azerbaijan into English in order to submit them to international experts for improvement in accordance with the WTO principles.

For the time being Azerbaijan, which has been an observer in the WTO since 1997, is waiting for the 5th round of multilateral talks on full-right membership.
