Azerbaijan Banks Association to Sign Agreement on Co-operation with Association of Latvian Commercial Banks

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr I. Khalilova / The head of Azerbaijan Banks Association (ABA), Eldar Ismayilov, is leaving for Riga, Latvia at the end of August in order to sign a draft agreement on co-operation with the Association of Latvian Commercial Banks, the Executive Director of ABA, Farhad Aliyev, reported on 13 August. According to him, the document has been already co-ordinated at the level of ABA's Presidium and has been recommended for signature.

Familiarization with the working mechanism of the Association of Latvian Commercial Banks will be held during the visit. The proposal was made during the visit of the President of the Association of Latvian Commercial Banks, Teodors Tverijons, to Azerbaijan on 7 June in which he participated in the workshop on mortgage crediting organized by the National Bank of Azerbaijan (NBA) jointly with the Latvian Embassy in Azerbaijan. Latvian participants reported on their experiences in this field in their country.

ABA also establishes bilateral relationships with bank associations of other countries. In June, agreements on cooperation were signed with the bank associations of Ukraine and Belarus. Draft agreements with Central Asian countries ( Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan) have been devised and will be signed in autumn.
