Azerenerji has commenced development of a feasibility study for the construction.

The project envisages construction of two power stations (one in Azerbaijan and one in Iran) on the bordering Araz River.

Azerbaijan intends to construct a power station with a capacity of 35 MW. Earlier Azerbaijan planned to construct a station capable of 45 MW. The final capacity of the station will be determined after the development of the feasibility study.

River water resources will be shared. The stations will be located on the outlet of the river. Construction of a water reservoir is not planned. The water used in the station will not be used for other needs, and will just be thrown back into the river.
