Unique control panel mounted in Georgian electrical system

Control panel, which was mounted project in Georgian electrical system and equipped with the latest technology under the SCADA, is the only and unique in the Caucasus. Presentation of the project will be held on Aug.25.

The new control panel will enable to reduce significantly the probability of accidents in the power system and increase the accuracy of capacity management, a source in the Georgian electric system.

The SCADA project was sanctioned in late 2006 and will complete in December, 2009. Total cost of the project is about €12.1 million. The project is financed by the World Bank with co-financing from the Georgian state electrical system. Siemens is a contractor of the project.

Georgia is the only country in the Caucasus, which possesses new technology with such advanced equipment, the manager of the rehabilitation of the Georgian state electric system, Sulkhan Zumburidze, said. This project is one more step in the development of the Georgian energy sector, Zumburidze added.
