Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 14 / Trend E.Ismayilov /

The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic's (SOCAR) gasoline and diesel fuel from the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery fully meet international standards, SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev said today. He was commenting on Standardization, Metrology and Patents Committee Chairman Ramiz Hasanov's recent statements about low gasoline quality at gas stations.

"I can say with confidence that the quality of the gasoline and diesel produced by SOCAR meets the standards," he added.

According to the company official, currently SOCAR produces gasoline and other fuel standards Euro-2 and Euro-3. Shortcomings in the fuels sold at gas stations are the fault of those facilities, he added.

Earlier the State Committee on Standardization, Metrology and Patents held monitoring on the quality of petroleum products in Azerbaijan.

"The monitoring revealed several shortcuts, as some stations mixed gasoline with different octane ratings," \Hasanov said.

"Car owners, who run their cars with on A-93 petrol, receive A-90 as a result of mixing petrol with octane. This endangers vehicles," Hasanov said.

According to the committee, the monitoring revealed that five of 37 gas stations in Baku and the surrounding villages do not meet diesel fuel quality standards. A-95 petrol quality was low at two of the stations.
