Employees of the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance arrested former director general of GruzRosenergo Georgi Sheradze and his deputy Shota Maisuradze.
During the preliminary investigation, it was found that eight million lari was allocated by the governmental decision dated November 3, 2003 for the rehabilitation of a 400-kilovolt transmission line connecting the energy systems of Georgia and Armenia. It was necessary to lay a 500-kV cable.
GruzRosenergo management has fulfilled the work only on a two-wire cable. As a result, significant damage was made. More than 2.138 million lari was misappropriated.
Georgi Sheradze and Shota Maisuradze are charged under the second part of Article 182 of the Criminal Code of Georgia. The Court has already called the provisional measure of restraint in the form of a two-month detention.
