Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 18 /Trend, E.Ismayilov/
SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) prepares an appeal to the government regarding reduction of black oil consumption by state enterprises and their gasification, a senior official of SOCAR said on Saturday.
According to the official, the level of gasification in Azerbaijan has always been high, but despite this, many state-owned enterprises, particularly in the spheres of health, have used and are using black oil as fuel.
In 2010, SOCAR conducted a series of works to reduce black oil consumption in the country by 30-40 percent.
According to the SOCAR official, today Azerbaijan produces sufficient volumes of gas in cooperation with partners. Particularly, SOCAR realizes a gas program aimed at increasing the level of gasification of the Republic up to 95 percent. Despite this, some companies continue to use black oil as fuel.
The SOCAR official said the company currently can provide a number of these enterprises with gas, but this requires creating appropriate infrastructure. This requires considerable time and resources, as well as appeal of the enterprises themselves to build this infrastructure.
