Azerbaijan ready to increase its gas sales, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said in an interview with Russia Today channel's Arabic editorial staff.

"Azerbaijan is ready to increase its gas sales if it receives a good offer," Mammadyarov said.

Today, Azerbaijan is considered as one of the main gas suppliers for the Southern Energy Corridor, which is a priority EU energy project diversifying energy supply routes and sources and increasing EU energy security. The Southern Corridor includes the Nabucco gas pipeline, Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), White Stream, and ITGI (Turkey-Greece-Italy pipeline).

At present, Azerbaijani gas is supplied to Georgia, Turkey, Russia and Iran. Also gas supplies to Syria and Jordan are expected in the future.

According to specialists' estimates, Azerbaijan's proven gas reserves amount to two trillion cubic meters.
Potential reserves are estimated at five trillion cubic meters.

The Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field with reserves of 1.2 trillion cubic meters is a major gas field.

Gas production was 26.23 billion cubic meters in Azerbaijan in 2010, which is 11.2 percent more than in 2009. It is expected that gas production will significantly increase in the country in subsequent years.
