SOCAR started drilling two wells in the shallow part of the "Guneshli" field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, SOCAR said.
The design depth of the first well, to be drilled from the platform No 49, is 3,850 meters. According to the forecasts, about 25 tons of oil and 200,000 cubic meters of gas can be extracted from the platform daily.
The project depth of the well is 2,960 meters. The estimated daily debit is 150 tons.
The Guneshli field is on the balance of the 28 May Oil and Gas Production Union.
The shallow part of the Guneshli field is developed by SOCAR at its own expense, and the deep part within the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block in conjunction with a consortium of foreign companies.
