SOCAR to increase number of petrol stations in Georgia by late 2011

SOCAR will have commissioned several more filling stations in Georgia by the end of this year, a source in SOCAR Energy Georgia, which represents the interests of the group in Georgia told Trend today.

"More than eight SOCAR filling stations will operate in Georgia by the end of the year," a source said. "As a result, the number of stations will have reached 94 to 95 units." A source said that currently the number of SOCAR filling stations in Georgia is 85.

SOCAR Georgia Petroleum which started up in 2006 sells Azerbaijani oil products in the country. The company has a number of petrol stations in Azerbaijan.

Gradually more filling stations are also being opened in Ukraine and Romania and the company is investing with some in Switzerland.
