Azerbaijan plans to bring gas production to 50-55 billion cubic meters a year by 2020-2025, Deputy Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Abbasov said during the "round table" Joint energy projects with an emphasis on strengthening the strategic partnership between Russia and Azerbaijan, in Baku on Thursday.

Azerbaijan plans to bring gas production to 50-55 billion cubic meters a year by 2020-2025, Deputy Minister of Industry and Energy Natig Abbasov said during the "round table" Joint energy projects with an emphasis on strengthening the strategic partnership between Russia and Azerbaijan, in Baku on Thursday.

"The country has large reserves of gas, in particular, proven gas reserves are 2.6 trillion cubic meters. Gas condensate field Shah Deniz has large volumes of gas. Large gas reserves, Umid and Absheron were discovered in the country in 2010 and 2011," Abbasov said.

If Azerbaijan imported gas until 2007 then the country is increasing its export potential, he said.

"Azerbaijan's oil reserves will be sufficient to meet the needs of the country and its economy for at least 50 years and gas reserves - 100 years" the deputy minister said.

The "round table" was held in the frame of the third Azerbaijani-Russian inter-regional forum Russian-Azerbaijani dialogue 2012.
