SOCAR conducts geotechnical drilling in Russian sector of Caspian Sea

SOCAR's Department of Geology has held engineering and geological drilling on the structure Khazri in the Russian sector of the North Caspian Sea in June-August, the department said.

According to the report, samples were taken from the sea ground in the course of the work, which were carried out from Zohrab Veliyev vessel. The work was carried out by the order of the Latvian JSC Morinzhgeologiya.

In the coming days it is scheduled to begin engineering and geological work in the field Korchagin, which is developed by the company Lukoil.

The Korchagin field is located 180 kilometers from Astrakhan and 240 kilometers from Makhachkala.

The sea depth in the area of ​​the field is 11-13 meters. The field's 3P estimated at 570 million barrels of oil equivalent. Maximum level of oil and gas condensate production is 2.3 million tons and 1.2 billion cubic meters of gas a year.
