The SOCAR Geophysics and Geology Department has conducted drilling of engineering-geological wells on the structures Oguz and Western Absheron in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea in June and August, the department said.
According to the report, the physical and mechanical properties of samples of rocks have been studied and the works are currently ongoing.
Engineering-geological drilling was conducted from the Zahrab Veliyev vessel.
Sonar, bathymetric works were held from M.Suleymanov vessel, and seismic profiling on the structures and fields Oguz, D-30, Oil Rocks, Guneshli continuous.
"Work in this direction is continuing," the report says.
The purpose of the complex engineering and geological work is the selection of the most favorable sites for the construction of hydro plants.
