The construction of medium and small hydropower stations will be a priority of the Georgian Energy Ministry, Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze told media today.

"We will continue constructing," Kaladze said.

However, he stressed that there are a lot of questions on the construction of large hydropower plants.

We do not want to develop the energy sector by creating the problems with the ecology," he stressed.

Kaladze also considers the development of alternative energy sources as prospective.

"This is the energy of wind and sun," he said. "Though it is quite expensive, we can think of development in these areas."
