Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, 31 July / Trend H. Hasanov /

A refinery in the city of Turkmenbashi is building another primary oil refining installation (CDU AT-7), which is scheduled to be commissioned in the summer of 2014, and the complex, which includes a delayed coking unit (DCU) and a tar deasphalting unit, according to the article published in the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.

Commissioning of these installations will increase production capacity, improve efficiency, the depth of refining crude oil into high quality oil products and, therefore, significantly increase production of marketable production, the article said.

Coke is used as fuel and reagent in ferrous and non-ferrous electrometallurgy when cooking steel, producing aluminum and its alloys, manufacturing electrodes. As for deasphaltizate, it is the most valuable raw material for technical motor oils and high-octane gasoline.

The article also notes that asphalt and tar remaining "in the sediment" will be used in the manufacture of high quality road bitumen, which is also important in view of the expanded scale of road building in the country.

The deasphalting unit will provide for the production of large quantities of components for the production of diesel and heating oil.

Reconstruction at this refinery was carried out with the participation of large companies from Germany, Iran, Israel, the USA, Turkey, France and Japan.

The refinery produces dozens of petroleum products that are in high demand in global markets. Among those are high-octane, unleaded motor gasoline, aviation kerosene, hydrotreated diesel fuel, petroleum coke, polypropylene, a wide range of technical lubricants.

In addition, the refinery is the region's largest exporter of liquefied natural gas. Road, rail and marine terminals have been constructed for its storage and shipment.
