By Maksim Tsurkov - Trend:

Turkey's container port Petlim will start receiving cargos in the first quarter of 2016, said Rovnag Abdullayev, president of Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR.

Speaking to reporters Oct. 29, he said all the projects of SOCAR are being successfully implemented in Turkey.

Abdullayev, noting that the construction of Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) is going on at a fast pace, said the laying of pipes has already begun, welding works are underway and pipes have been delivered to all the sites.

"The construction of the Star Oil Refinery is also underway," he said, adding that the works at the refinery are going ahead of schedule.

"Petlim's construction is also wrapping up. Maersk has delivered cargo cranes and is already installing them, and in the first quarter of next year, the port will be ready to receive goods," said Abdullayev.

He also noted that, despite this, some forces are trying to cast a shadow on the political and economic union of Azerbaijan and Turkey.

"Someone can't like the high results that we are getting from the economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey. This is absolutely normal," he added.

TANAP project envisages transportation of gas of Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz field from Georgian-Turkish border to the western borders of Turkey. The project's total cost is estimated at $10 billion.
