In the first nine months of the current Iranian fiscal year, which started March 21, Iran exported 133 million liters of gas oil to Afghanistan, said Mohammad Mehdi Qaraee, CEO of Razavi Khorasan Oil Products Distribution Company.

He said the gas oil was carried through the Dogharoon border point by tankers, the oil ministry's official SHANA news agency reported Dec. 28.

The official said 37.11 million liters of the total delivered gas oil was exported by the local Border Residents Cooperative, adding that the cooperative has been a great help to reduce fuel smuggling at the border.

Razavi Khorasan Oil Products Distribution Company covers one of Iran's 37 oil products distribution districts. It uses various facilities, including a 20-inch in diameter pipeline that extends from capital Tehran to Mashhad, to transfer gasoline, gas oil, jet fuel, etc.

Relying on its huge gas reserves, Iran has lowered the consumption of liquid fuels especially at power plants and industrial units, contributing to the export of liquid fuels.
