Iran's gas consumption reaches 650mcm/d

Daily gas consumption in Iran rose by around 50 million cubic meters per day in recent days as cold weather has engulfed the country.

Since February 8, cold weather has increased gas consumption in Iran to nearly 650 mcm, ISNA news agency reported on February 10.

Gas supply to power plants has decreased, while supplies to houses, small commercial and industrial units have increased.

Major industries consumed 83 mcm/d of gas on average as of February 6. Supply of gas to power plants decreased from 125 mcm/d on February 6 to 105 mcm/d on February 8, and then to 95 mcm/d on February 10.

Meanwhile, consumption by houses, small commercial and industrial units rose from 400 mcm/d on February 6 to 470 mcm/d on February 10.

Thus, total gas consumption reached 648 mcm/d from 610 mcm/d.

Daily refined gas consumption in Iran was 472 mcm/d on average in the past Iranian fiscal year (March 2014 - March 2015), an increase of 12 percent compared to the year before.
