Azerbaijan reduces export of electricity

Azerbaijan exported 17.47 million kilowatt hours of electricity in January 2016 compared to 17.52 million kWh of electricity exported in the same period of 2015, the country's State Statistics Committee's report said Feb. 17.

Azerbaijan exported electricity worth $870,420 in January 2016 compared to $943,960 in the same period of 2015, according to the committee.

Azerbaijan exported 276.78 million kWh of electricity in accordance with the customs declaration in 2015 versus 588.32 million kWh in 2014.

Azerenergy JSC is the main producer of electricity in Azerbaijan.

The generation capacity of Azerbaijan's power supply system has increased by 30 percent for the last five years. Currently, its capacity is 7,129 megawatt. This allows generating around 24 billion kilowatt hours of electricity and export 2.1 billion kilowatt hours of electricity annually.
