SOCAR increases gas output

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR produced 1.67 billion cubic meters of gas from the country’s offshore and onshore fields using its own funds in the third quarter of 2018, as compared to 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas produced in the same period of 2017, SOCAR said a message.

The gas production in the country increased by around 11 percent compared to the same period of 2017.

SOCAR reports that in the first nine months of 2018, 22 billion cubic meters of gas has been produced in Azerbaijan as a whole and compared to the same period of last year, there is a 4.5 percent growth.

In January-September 2018, SOCAR exported 871.8 million cubic meters of gas, which is 0.5 percent more than in 2017. Currently, SOCAR’s gas storage facilities contain about three billion cubic meters of gas reserved for the winter.

Last year, SOCAR produced 6.09 billion cubic meters of gas from the country's offshore and onshore fields at its own expense, compared to 6.27 billion cubic meters produced in the year before.

The total volume of gas produced from the contractual and independently developed fields in 2017 amounted to 28.6 billion cubic meters compared to 29.37 billion cubic meters produced in 2016.

SOCAR includes such production unions as Azneft (enterprises producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), Azerikimya (the chemical enterprises) and Azerigas (distributor of gas produced in the country), as well as oil and gas processing plants, service companies and the facilities involved in geophysical and drilling operations.
