Wind power production significantly increases in Azerbaijan

Power stations in Azerbaijan generated 2.185 billion kilowatts per hour of electricity in January 2019, which is 0.6 percent more than in January 2018, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee.

Of the total electricity produced in January 2019, 2.1 billion kilowatt-hours accounted for commercial use, which is 1.2 percent more than in January 2018.

Of the total electricity (commercial) produced in the period, the share of thermal power plants (TPPs) accounted for almost 2 billion kilowatt-hours, which is 1 percent more than in the same period of 2018.

Hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) in Azerbaijan produced 98.2 million kilowatts per hour of electricity in the period, which is 6.1 percent less than in January 2018.

During the period, 11.4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were produced in Azerbaijan by wind power facilities (an increase of 7.6 times over a year), while solar power accounted for 2.4 million kilowatt hours of electricity (an increase of 26.3 percent).
