By Fakhri Vakilov-Trend:

Chairman & CEO of Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) Tetsuhiro Hosono announced the company intention to cooperate in the exploration and production of hydrocarbons in Uzbekistan, Trend reports referring to Japanese media.

Negotiations of Japanese side with the representatives of the delegation of Uzbekistan can take place on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum to be held in Vladivostok (Russia) on September 4-6, 2019.

It is noteworthy that several years ago the same corporation successfully carried out exploration work on theKhorezm and Meshekli-Tuzkoy investment blocks in Uzbekistan.

However, subsequently, representatives of the Japanese corporation announced the impossibility of continuing cooperation on the projects after Japanese companies in whose interests JOGMEC worked reduced their exploration expenditures.

Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation (JOGMEC) was established on February 29, 2004 pursuant to the Law Concerning the Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation, which was promulgated on July 26, 2002.

JOGMEC integrates the functions of the former Japan National Oil Corporation, which was in charge of securing a stable supply of oil and natural gas, and the former Metal Mining Agency of Japan, which was in charge of ensuring a stable supply of nonferrous metal and mineral resources and implementing mine pollution control measures.
