A mega-project will be implemented in Iran through the big holdings’ investments worth $7-8 billion, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister for Petrochemical Affairs and Executive Director of the National Petrochemical Company Behzad Mohammadi said.
Mohammadi made the remark in Iran at a meeting on the development and plans of the company, Trend reports referring to Shana.
“As a result, along with an increase in the production, 20 strategic products will be produced,” the deputy minister said.
Mohammadi added that this project is bigger than the projects of Bandar Imam and Shazand petrochemical plants.
“Iran is the world's biggest oil and gas producer,” the deputy minister said. “So, Iran's petrochemical industry must be developed and strengthened.”
In general, there are 125 oil fields and 59 gas fields in Iran. Iran's entire hydrocarbon reserves reach 836 billion barrels. By using special equipment, 239 billion barrels may be extracted.
That is, Iran can use 29 percent while 71 percent remain unused.
